Introduction & Objectives
Landscape Architectural Design 6 (LAD6) @ Design Thesis is the final studio project for 4th year BLA Students. The studio tests students’ individual ability to extend their interest and creativity by choosing any design topic to show their ability to integrate wide range of knowledge, understanding and skills. Project will involve all stages: proposing a site – literature review – conceptual design process – design development – construction drawing – design report – presentations. All within 14 weeks only. Students are expected to:
- demonstrate how the landscape architecture profession can contribute to the achievement of a healthy and meaningful living environment
- explore new and innovative design solutions
- conduct an analytical study of their project site and undergo thorough design processes
- produce a set of design requirements within the scope of time given
- ability to present the ideas in all stages of presentation
Selection of Project Topic
Students are free to select one of any topic pertaining to the field of landscape architecture, such as:
- Cultural & Heritage Landscape

Design Topic Approval
All students are required to propose two (2) preliminary topics as potential projects. Please bare in mind that students only have 14 WEEKS to complete the final project. Therefore, sites and projects proposed must be “manageable”. Presentation of proposals should be concise and comprehensive. Contents must include:
- Project Title
- Project Issue
- Proposed Site
- Related Literature Review
- Related Precedent Projects
- Significance of Project
- References
The slide presentation for each proposal should be between 7-10 pages only, and to be printed on A4 handout.
Each student is only given 10 minutes to present both proposals. So please rehearse and time your presentation, for it to be concise yet comprehensive.
